Risk Management Program

Not all donated real estate is environmentally impaired. However, if the property has environmental issues, Realty Gift Fund’s unique Environmental Protection Program supports the resolution of all environmental matters. Key elements of program are:

  • Determination of environmental impacts.

  • Development of proven, cost effective mitigation measures designed to achieve cleanup and closure in accordance with applicable environmental regulations.

  • Indemnification of the donor against financial consequences associated with the environmental condition of the property.

  • Protection against future liability and risk through a comprehensive policy provided by one of the world’s largest insurers.

  • Naming of all stakeholders in the transaction as insureds on the policy.

The cost of the risk management plan will be agreed upon between the donor and plan providers. The risk management plan will be funded by the donor at the time of donation and RGF will take title to the property and manage the remediation process.
